A Romantic Weekend with the Playstation 4..
I am currently writing this on Monday the 2nd of December, 3 days after the release of the PS4. On first arrival (At about 2:30), I carefully opened the box to see the beautiful console and the brilliant dualshock 4.
Upon booting the PS4 up, everything was smooth. the setup was easy and the interface simple to navigate.
The problem lay with connecting to PSN. I couldnt connect, no matter how many times I tried and tried, the servers were facing so much traffic, that it was near impossible to get online. This was frustrating as anything as i wanted to just see everything in all its glory.
However I didn't let this get me down so i booted up the Killzone single player. I wont say anything about what i thought of the game itself yet, but everything was as easy as you expect to get the game running. The disc tray drive thingy is cleverly and nicely hidden and the game booted up very quickly.
You now use R2 and L2 to typically shoot on most FPS games instead of L1 and R1 which is good because these triggers are perfect. Also the analog sticks and the rumble is awesome. unfortunately the lack of a start button is strange, but it is early days.
When in game you can easily go back to the home screen and do anything that you couldnt on the PS3, navigate the store, mess about with settings etc, and then just as easily hop back into the game.
I finally got online around 8:00PM after sony had closed the network and worked their magic and ever since it has been flawless.
Going in and out of applications is unbelievably smooth with gorgeous transitions and ultra speed.
It is however unfortunate that you cannot change the background or theme of your interface and also the music is god awful (May just be because I had to listen to it for hours whilst failing to sign in), but overall the system is absolutely wonderful and a joy to use. It really does shape the next gen amazingly and shows that the future of console gaming is bright as ever.
Look out tomorrow night for most of my PS4 game reviews, hope you have enjoyed this little review of the PS4, thanks for viewing and pleae follow and like me on facebook.
